The United Transitional Cabinet has appealed to Belarusians to vote in the Coordination Council elections. The elections are taking place from May 11 to 17.
The Cabinet emphasized that the Cabinet and the Coordination Council are complementary institutions.
“The United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus is addressing you at an important time, when together we are determining the future path of our country. Change does not happen by itself — it requires systematic preparation and strong institutions.
The elections to the fourth convocation of the Coordination Council, taking place from May 11 to 17, are one of the most important stages on this path.
Elections and an elected representative body are the foundation of democracy. The Coordination Council is the institution that directly influences the formation of the United Transitional Cabinet. It is precisely before the democratically elected representative body, which is the Coordination Council, that the Cabinet is accountable and answerable. These are complementary bodies: while the Cabinet performs operational work, the Coordination Council provides democratic oversight and represents the interests of society.
Without the Coordination Council, the overall system of institutions, which also includes the Office of President-elect Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the United Transitional Cabinet, will not be able to function as effectively as possible. Your participation in the Coordination Council elections creates the necessary legitimacy for the entire system of our democratic forces and proactive actions in the interests of Belarus and Belarusian society on the international stage.
For us, the Coordination Council is a strategic partner and a guarantor that the voices of Belarusians will be taken into account when making key political decisions. Through elections, we are jointly building a model of a political system based on transparency and accountability to society. This path of forming and operating the institutions of the Belarusian democratic forces is the only healthy foundation for a future democratic Belarus.
The mandate of public trust allows democratic institutions to act as a united front and work more effectively to solve the problems faced by Belarusians related to mobility, legalization and other forms of necessary support abroad. A strong elected Coordination Council significantly expands our opportunities in dialogue with international partners, making joint demands politically significant and justified.
The elections themselves are not merely a technical process. They are an opportunity for Belarusian society to reclaim its right to a voice and to genuinely influence the political agenda. At the same time, this is our collective preparation for the moment of transition of power, when every step must be legitimate and supported by society.
The regime fears these elections and our organization, because dictatorship can survive only through the division of society. Building strong institutions that cannot be bought or intimidated creates a force that cannot be ignored. Your will, expressed through voting, is the best proof that Belarusian society is a subject, not an object whose fate is decided by others.
The United Transitional Cabinet calls on each and every one of you to participate in the vote from May 11 to 17.
By choosing your representatives in the Coordination Council, you create the conditions for change. You are building and influencing the entire system of democratic institutions, creating a real alternative to Lukashenka’s dictatorial regime. You confirm that Belarusians are a nation capable of organizing itself and independently deciding its future.
Long live Belarus!” the statement said.
