The Prosecutor’s Office of Zavadski District of Minsk issued another order to the marketplace. The move followed the discovery of weapon suppressors being offered for sale on the online platform.
“During monitoring of one of the popular classified-advertising platforms, at least 3,000 offers were found for the unrestricted purchase of ‘muzzle brake compensators’ which, based on their technical characteristics, significantly reduced the sound of a gunshot and therefore could be classified as sound suppressors (devices for silent shooting). For example, some of the muzzle devices on offer reduced the sound of a gunshot by 90%”, the prosecutor’s office said.
The name of the platform was not disclosed. It complied with the order and took “organizational and technical measures aimed at preventing the posting of such advertisements”.
Law enforcement agencies were instructed to conduct checks into the posting of the advertisements.
