Aliaksandr Lukashenka received the Lenin Prize. It was presented by Russian Communist Party Central Committee Chairman Gennady Zyuganov.
The Lenin Prize was one of the main state awards during the Soviet era. However, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation’s Central Committee now presents it on its own behalf. The prize was revived in 2017, and Lukashenka was awarded it in 2024 “for tireless and consistent efforts to promote the ideas of a just multipolar world and contribution to expanding the practice of its formation, ongoing efforts to strengthen the Union State, personal involvement in preserving the historical heritage and values of the Soviet era, and an important role in strengthening friendship and brotherhood between the peoples of the two countries”.
Lukashenka was pleased to meet with Zyuganov. He said he had been looking forward to the meeting.
“I had been looking forward to this meeting very much. We have things to talk about, to share some thoughts, sentiments and doubts — unfortunately, we still have those as well. I am glad that you came,” Lukashenka said.
