Belarusian border guards detained a Russian citizen who tried to get rid of a bag of hashish directly at the Brest border crossing.
The State Border Committee said that on Aug. 15, a service dog alerted officers to a paper package containing a brown substance near a passport control booth. The investigation found that the Russian citizen approached the driver of the minibus in which he was crossing the border and discreetly threw the drug under the vehicle’s wheels.
The Russian citizen was detained. Criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Article 328 (“Illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors or analogues”) and Part 1 of Article 328-1 (“Illegal movement across the border of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors or analogues”) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
An examination confirmed that the package contained hashish.
