Deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus Pavel Latushka congratulated Andrii Sybiha on his reappointment as Ukraine’s foreign minister and said Belarusian democratic forces were ready to continue cooperating with Kyiv.

“Continuing our cooperation is of fundamental importance for both our countries, as well as for the overall situation in the region,” the politician said.

He noted that during a recent visit by a delegation of Belarusian democratic forces to Kyiv, the sides held talks and identified the main areas of joint work.

“It is extremely important that the democratic forces of Belarus and Ukraine continue to consistently implement all the agreements reached,” he stressed.

The politician said the appointment of Yaroslav Chornohor as a special envoy of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry responsible for engagement with Belarusian democratic forces would strengthen cooperation institutionally.

“We are ready to work together to hold Lukashenka accountable for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, for the deportation of Ukrainian children to Belarus from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, for crimes against humanity against the Belarusian people, as well as to increase sanctions pressure,” he stressed.

Latushka described Sybiha’s statement on preparing a separate strategy for Ukraine’s relations with Belarus as an important step toward “forming a strategic and long-term policy to restore Belarus’s independence and build a democratic future for Belarusian society.”

“I am confident that a free, sovereign and peaceful Belarus is our common goal. We will continue to work together with our Ukrainian partners to bring Ukraine’s victory closer and free Belarus from dictatorship,” he concluded.
