Siarhei Syrankou, leader of the Communist Party of Belarus, has been appointed a member of the Council of the Republic. The relevant decree was signed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka, his press service reports.
The appointment is made in accordance with Part 2 of Article 91 of the Constitution. It provides that Lukashenka appoints eight members of the Council of the Republic.
