The Interior Ministry’s press service has announced a new special operation by the Belarusian traffic police.

From Aug. 17 to 24, a nationwide operation aimed at improving the safety of freight transportation will be conducted.

“Particular attention will be paid to preventing violations committed by drivers when transporting bulk cargo, as well as other agricultural products,” the Interior Ministry’s press service said.

Controls will be tightened over the loading and condition of transported cargo, the use of protective tarpaulins, and preventing contamination of the roadway.

If violations involving the authorization of defective vehicles or vehicles without the required permits for transportation are identified, officials will be held administratively liable.

The Belarusian traffic police conducted the nationwide “Motorcyclist” preventive campaign from Aug. 6 to 16.
