The second meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation between Afghanistan and Belarus was held in Minsk. The Afghan side offered Belarus the opportunity to invest in oil and mineral extraction in Afghanistan.

The sides discussed expanding economic and trade cooperation, strengthening cooperation in agriculture and livestock farming, transferring new technologies, importing agricultural machinery, establishing assembly plants in Afghanistan, producing chemical fertilizers, processing dairy and food products, and manufacturing industrial equipment.

The Afghan side proposed creating conditions for Belarusian companies to invest in the extraction and processing of minerals in Afghanistan and increasing exports of Afghan products to Belarus.

“The sides also discussed opportunities for Belarusian companies to invest in oil extraction and processing in Afghanistan, cooperation in the import of petroleum products, and the creation of practical mechanisms to develop trade between the two countries.

The sides also stressed the need to establish appropriate banking and money transfer mechanisms to implement joint projects and facilitate investment,” the Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock reports.

The possibility of investments by Belarusian state-owned companies in Afghan state enterprises was also discussed.
