The press service of Aliaksandr Lukashenka announced that he will hold talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, who is arriving in Minsk today for an official visit. He will arrive in the Belarusian capital from Russia.

The Myanmar president’s press service announced the visit yesterday.

According to today’s statement, the main talks are scheduled for Aug. 21. On Friday, Lukashenka and Hlaing will discuss bilateral cooperation aimed at collaboration in 2026-2028. The talks will cover joint work in industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science and education.

The talks are expected to result in the signing of documents aimed at strengthening Belarusian-Myanmar ties in trade and economic, scientific and technical, legal and other areas.

It was reported yesterday that the visit’s program also includes attendance at the “Belarus-Myanmar” business forum and the opening ceremony of Myanmar’s embassy in Minsk.

Min Aung Hlaing came to power in Myanmar following a military coup in 2021. Since then, he had headed the interim government. In 2026, the country’s parliament elected him president.
