The possibility of a meeting between Alyaksandr Lukashenka and US President Donald Trump is being considered, Lukashenka’s press secretary Natallia Eismant told TASS.
“The possibility of a meeting with Trump is being considered. The president would be glad to discuss international issues and bilateral relations with the US president,” she said.
Eismant also confirmed that Lukashenka plans to take part in the next meeting of the Peace Council:
“If the meeting takes place this year and if it is acceptable for the Belarusian side, we will certainly attend this summit.”
Earlier, Lukashenka said he had received an invitation from Trump to visit the United States. According to him, this included a possible meeting at Trump’s residence in Florida. US presidential envoy John Coale has repeatedly confirmed that such a meeting is being discussed, though no final decision has been made.
According to Eismant, the issue of Russia is consistently present on the agenda.
“During the visit to North Korea and in negotiations with the United States, issues related to our brotherly Russia have always been and will continue to be present,” she said.
It should be noted that Lukashenka has repeatedly emphasized that the United States allegedly does not demand changes in Belarus’s relations with Moscow.
