A total of 4.1605 million people were employed in the Belarusian economy in May, down by 11,600 from April. Employment has declined for the second consecutive month after increasing in February and March. Belarus’ National Statistical Committee commented on the trend.

“The decline in the number of people employed in the economy in May compared with April this year is due to seasonal factors,” the statistical committee said.

Employment also declined in May a year earlier. However, compared with May 2025, the number of people employed in the economy increased by 38,400.

Compared with December 2019, however, employment fell by 174,500. At that time, 4.335 million people were employed in the economy.
