Ukraine considers Belarus to remain a threat and is working on a document defining its relations with Minsk. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this during an address to the Verkhovna Rada.
“The document will be ready, and we will present it to the committee and share it with you,” he said in response to a question about preparations for a strategy toward Belarus.
According to Sybiha, Ukraine views the Belarusian regime as a threat to its security and will strengthen cooperation with Belarusian democratic forces.
“The Belarusian direction continues to pose a threat to our security and to European security. Belarus is responsible for Russia’s aggression. The Lukashenka regime must be held accountable and sanctioned. We have structured our approaches within the framework of our policy toward Belarus.
We have established proper cooperation with democratic forces. And I have appointed a special envoy at the ministry responsible for this area, and institutionally we will strengthen it,” Sybiha said at the Rada session.
