Average Salary Falls By 14.1 Rubles In February

The average salary in Belarus decreased by another 14.1 rubles in February, reaching 2,743 rubles before income tax, according to Belstat. In January, the average had already dropped by more than 300 rubles compared to December figures. The further decline in February may also be linked to a lower number of working days.

In real terms, adjusted for inflation, the average salary nationwide increased by 6.5% compared to February last year.

In Minsk, the February average stood at 3,660.7 rubles, decreasing by 87.1 rubles over the month. In real terms, the capital’s average salary rose by 3.9% year-on-year. In the Minsk Region, the average salary exceeded 2,700 rubles, while in the Brest, Homiel, and Hrodna regions it surpassed 2,400 rubles. The lowest average was recorded in the Mahilyou Region at 2,291.2 rubles, though it increased by 7% in real terms over the year.

The highest salaries in February were earned by employees in cargo air transport, with an average of 7,477.6 rubles. They were followed by IT specialists with 7,408.5 rubles, and passenger air transport workers with 7,034.7 rubles.

The lowest salaries among sectors, according to Belstat, were recorded in hairdressing and beauty services at 1,421.2 rubles. Employees of museums, libraries, and archives earned 1,738 rubles, while social workers received 1,925.4 rubles.

Average earnings in crop production amounted to 2,126.7 rubles in February, and in livestock farming to 2,259.4 rubles. In manufacturing, the average salary reached 2,806.5 rubles, while in mining it stood at 4,118.3 rubles.

In construction, the average pre-tax salary was 3,268.8 rubles, while in retail trade it was 2,180.8 rubles.

The average salary in healthcare was 2,350.8 rubles, and in education it stood at 2,037.5 rubles.
