A resident of Ivatsevichy District fired at a cyclist for amusement. A criminal case has been opened on charges of aggravated hooliganism, the Brest Regional Executive Committee’s Interior Department reports.
The 53-year-old man was riding a bicycle along a road near one of the villages in Ivatsevichy District. A 21-year-old unemployed man from a neighboring village was driving along the same road with an acquaintance.
The driver lowered the passenger-side window and fired at the cyclist at least three times with metal pellets.
The driver was detained and remanded in custody. He said he had bought the air pistol from an online store and had fired at the stranger for entertainment. The detainee had previously come to the attention of police.
Police found an air pistol, seven metal cartridges and a plastic container with metal pellets at the detainee’s home.
A criminal case has been opened on charges of particularly aggravated hooliganism. The article carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
