Brest customs officers discovered 3,700 auto parts that were not listed in the documents for a truck arriving from France in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union. The discrepancy between the declared quantity of goods and the actual contents of the Mercedes-Benz was identified at the Brest-SEZ customs clearance point.
The value of the undeclared auto parts exceeded 830,000 rubles. The Polish carrier deliberately failed to declare the full volume of the cargo, hoping to save about 47,000 rubles in customs payments, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus says.
Brest customs opened administrative proceedings under Article 15.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. It provides for a fine of up to 30% of the value of the subject of the administrative offense. The carrier will also have to pay the outstanding customs duties.
