Customs officers at the Brest border crossing detained a 31-year-old passenger on a regular bus for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Belarus, the State Customs Committee said.

The man passed through the green corridor and declared that he was not carrying any goods subject to declaration or prohibited from crossing the border. However, a service dog alerted officers to the possible presence of illegal substances. During an inspection of his luggage, customs officials found a package containing a white powder hidden inside an empty medicine bottle.

The package was wrapped in paper featuring American actor and director Al Pacino portraying a drug lord in the film “Scarface.”

According to an expert examination by the State Forensic Examination Committee, the seized substance contained 0.69 grams of cocaine.

Brest Customs has opened a criminal case on charges of illegally transporting narcotic substances across the state border. The offense carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
