Supplies of Belarusian potash to China increased in January–April, according to Chinese customs statistics for the first quarter. China continues to increase imports of potash fertilizers, while prices have also risen compared with last year.
China imported 5.81 million tonnes of potash fertilizers in January–April, which is 24.7% more than in the same period last year. In value terms, imports rose by 58.5% to $2.09 billion.
In April, China purchased 1.23 million tonnes of potash fertilizers, exceeding the figure for April last year by 10%. In value terms, imports increased by 37.5% to $438.06 million. Compared with March this year, supply volumes declined.
Imports of potash fertilizers from Belarus in January–April totaled $537.9 million, or 74.1% more than in the same period last year. Supplies from other countries also increased: from Russia — by 40.5% to $652.5 million, from Canada — by 69% to $371.9 million, from Laos — by 70.1% to $306.9 million, and from Israel — by 21.5% to $101.9 million.
In April, Chinese buyers imported potash fertilizers from Belarus worth $128 million, which is 84.4% more than a year earlier.
According to Chinese customs statistics, the total value of imports of goods from Belarus in January–March increased by 17.6% to $796.4 million.
