Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the team of the Belarusian Solidarity Center in Warsaw on February 9. The meeting was attended by members of the center’s board, Helena Nedzvetska and Volha Dabravolskaya.
The meeting focused on the role of legal assistance in supporting repressed Belarusians and those released from prison who are forced to leave Belarus. The discussion also covered issues of legal support, legalization, international protection, and integration in Poland, Tsikhanouskaya’s office said.
The participants addressed key challenges faced by former political prisoners when relocating, including difficulties with legal status and documents, access to medical, social, and psychological assistance, and post-detention adaptation.
Tsikhanouskaya thanked the center for several years of work and for helping Belarusians with legalization.
“During the meeting, we discussed the issues that most urgently require systemic solutions and how to establish cooperation to ensure even more consistent support for former political prisoners and repressed Belarusians in Poland,” she said.
