Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that Belarusian democratic forces take seriously all statements from Ukraine regarding Belarus being drawn into the war and called on the regime of Aliaksandr Lukashenka to stop supporting aggression.

“We take very seriously all signals coming from the Ukrainian side regarding Belarus’s involvement in the war and security in the region. Ukraine has every reason to remain vigilant: it was from Belarusian territory that Russia launched its invasion in 2022, and today the Lukashenka regime continues to support Russian aggression,” Tsikhanouskaya said.

She recalled that this week the Mission of the Democratic Forces of Belarus in Ukraine held a roundtable discussion in Kyiv, during which information was presented to the Ukrainian side about the militarization of Belarus and Russia’s plans to further draw the country into the war.

“These threats must not be ignored or underestimated — they must be treated with the utmost seriousness,” Tsikhanouskaya said.

According to Tsikhanouskaya, Kyiv is speaking to Lukashenka in the language of strength because that is the language he understands best.

“Lukashenka must realize that full responsibility for any possible consequences for the country will rest with him.

Today, the Lukashenka regime remains an accomplice to aggression. It provides territory and infrastructure that help Russia carry out strikes against Ukrainian cities, and it supplies Russia with weapons, fuel and equipment for its war machine. If Lukashenka truly wants peace, he must prove it not with words but with concrete actions: he must stop any support for aggression,” she said.

The leader of the Belarusian democratic forces called on Belarusians not to allow themselves to be drawn into the war and not to believe propaganda.

“I know that Belarusians are against the war. Therefore, I appeal to each of you: take care of yourselves and do not allow yourselves to be dragged into someone else’s war. Do not succumb to propaganda, do not believe in imposed fears and hostility. Do not become instruments of someone else’s imperial ambitions — because that is not our choice.

Our common task is to prevent Belarus from being fully drawn into the war. This is, above all, in the national interests of our country,” she said.

Earlier today, Volodymyr Zelensky gave Lukashenka one week to dismantle equipment on Belarusian territory that is allegedly being used to guide Russian drones in strikes against Ukraine. He also called on the Lukashenka regime to stop supplying fuel to the Russian military.
