Latvia has resumed traffic through the Pāternieki (Hryharoushchyna) border crossing on the Belarus-Latvia border.
“We inform you that the technical issues affecting the information systems at the Pāternieki border control point have been resolved. Border control operations have been fully restored,” Latvia’s State Border Guard said.
From Aug. 5, time-slot bookings for crossing the border will resume on the lvrobeza.lv website.
Belarus’ State Border Committee confirmed that traffic through the border crossing resumed at 9 p.m.
“The Latvian side informed Belarusian border guards that, from 9 p.m., it had fully resumed the processing of both freight and passenger vehicles at the Pāternieki (Hryharoushchyna) border crossing,” the committee said.
The Pāternieki border crossing, the only operational checkpoint on the Latvia-Belarus border, suspended operations on the evening of July 31. The Latvian side said the closure was caused by a “technical malfunction.” Belarus’ Foreign Ministry threatened Latvia with retaliatory measures of an asymmetric nature. Earlier today, the Latvian government decided not to close the border with Belarus for the time being.
