Emergency and rescue operations are continuing at the site of the Russian strike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that 16 people had been killed and 130 injured, including 23 children.

According to him, the fire covering an area of about 9,000 square meters has been extinguished. Rescuers are clearing the rubble and continuing to search for people. Emergency Service units from seven regions of Ukraine and search-and-rescue dog handlers are taking part in the operation.

The Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih on Aug. 21 was carried out in two waves. After the first strike on the shopping center, a second strike hit rescuers working at the scene.

Zelenskyy also reported on overnight missile and drone attacks on several regions of Ukraine. Ballistic strikes damaged railway infrastructure in Kyiv. One person was killed and another injured.

In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian FPV drone attacked a city route bus. Three people were injured.

The strikes also affected the Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Kherson, Chernihiv and Mykolaiv regions. Residential buildings, energy and railway infrastructure, as well as civilian businesses, were damaged.

“Every day that Ukraine lacks sufficient air defense means casualties that could have been avoided. Protecting lives requires daily decisions and effective support from the world, and now new deliveries of ballistic missile interceptors and other missiles can help. Thank you to everyone who is helping our people and supporting Ukraine through concrete steps”, the Ukrainian leader said.
