The smallest bribe recorded last year amounted to 8 rubles. However, it was only one of several episodes in a case. This was stated at a press conference at the House of Press by Deputy Head of the 2nd Department of the 4th Directorate of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Interior Ministry Dzianis Harlukovich.
“I have named the largest bribe last year, and it would be a sin not to name the smallest one, because something big always starts from something small. The smallest was 8 rubles,” he said.
According to him, this concerns so-called “everyday corruption.” A general practitioner valued issuing a sick leave certificate at that amount.
“In that case, it turned out to be one of the episodes of criminal activity. There were four in total. The combined amount of bribes was 150 rubles. Also insignificant. But, as far as I remember, the case has not yet been sent to court,” he added.
