Government Approves Projects For Development Of Regions Affected By Chernobyl Disaster

The Belarusian government has approved 16 projects aimed at the socio-economic development of regions affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The corresponding resolution was signed by Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn, the government’s press service reported.

The Council of Ministers’ resolution was prepared by the Emergencies Ministry jointly with the Brest, Homiel, Hrodna, and Mahilyou regional executive committees. It предусматривает the implementation of seven projects in the production sector (including agriculture), six in healthcare, two in education (including the construction of a swimming pool), and one in the social sector.

All 16 projects will be implemented in 2026 using funds from the national budget allocated to regional executive committees in the form of subsidies for territorial development.

Of the 16 projects, nine are included in relevant state programs by sector, five are planned to be included in the state programs “Agro-Industrial Complex of the Future” and “Intellectual Belarus,” and two production projects will be implemented as part of the investment program of the Homiel Region.
