Inflation in Belarus will remain below the target level, which is set at 7% for this year. This is the conclusion reached by EDB analysts after reviewing price growth data in the country for the first seven months of the year.
As Belstat reported last week, annual inflation stood at 4.4% in July, compared with 4.3% in June.
“Food inflation slowed to 3.1% year-on-year in July from 3.4% year-on-year in June, even amid a smaller decline in prices for seasonal fruit and vegetables: 10.8% year-on-year after an 11.5% decline a month earlier. Prices for non-food goods, by contrast, accelerated to 2.9% year-on-year from 2.2% year-on-year in June amid a significant reduction in the list of goods subject to price regulation. Core inflation stood at 4.8% year-on-year in July, remaining at the previous month’s level, which indicates that moderate price pressures persist,” the EDB said.
