The auction for the placement of dollar-denominated government bonds held on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange on Aug. 14 was declared unsuccessful. The Finance Ministry announced this today.
“The Finance Ministry reports that the auction for the placement of government bonds denominated in U.S. dollars, issue No. 378, conducted through the open joint-stock company Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange on Aug. 14, 2026, was declared unsuccessful,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Finance Ministry had offered securities with a face value of $1,000 and a maturity of 2,191 days. The bonds were due to mature on Aug. 13, 2032.
The Finance Ministry did not disclose the reasons why the auction was declared unsuccessful. They could include a lack of demand from investors as well as the interest rates offered by auction participants.
Previously, the Finance Ministry placed two issues of dollar-denominated government bonds with a combined volume of $100 million. The interest rate on them was 2.9% per year.
