Belarus Introduces Licensing for Glass, Waste Paper and Timber

The Belarusian government is introducing temporary licensing for the import and export of glass, waste paper and timber. The relevant decree was signed by Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn.

Licensing is being introduced for:

• the export from Belarus of glass and waste paper «to support Belarusian producers, create favorable conditions for the development of new production facilities, increase the output of import-substituting products, reduce the export of raw materials from the country and eliminate raw material shortages»;
• the import into Belarus of certain types of wood products similar to those produced in the country, with the aim of «increasing production volumes, expanding the range of domestically produced import-substituting products and selling them on the domestic market».

The licensing period is six months.
