Belarusian Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn met with Russian First Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin.
According to the government’s press service, the meeting was a continuation of the dialogue that began in Kyrgyzstan during a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, as well as a development of agreements reached between the prime ministers of Belarus and Russia.
“The focus was on current issues of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, including mutual supplies of energy resources.
The sides are committed to further deepening integration processes and strengthening the energy security of the Union State”, the press service said.
It should be noted that such discussions usually concern energy supplies from Russia to Belarus. However, recently Belarus has been actively exporting motor fuel to Russia amid increasingly frequent strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to media reports, rail deliveries of gasoline from Belarus to Russia rose by 13% in July compared with June, reaching about 212,000 tonnes. Diesel fuel supplies doubled during the month to 162,000 tonnes.
