The Belarusian Gymnastics Association has appealed to World Gymnastics over the conduct of the organizers of the World Cup event held in Rzeszów, Poland, from June 19 to 21.
According to the association, despite a decision by the international federation, the organizers presented Belarusian athletes as neutral competitors during both the opening ceremony and the competition itself. However, under a World Gymnastics decision adopted on May 18, the neutral athlete status had ceased to apply.
“The Belarusian side responded promptly to the violation of our athletes’ rights, and the relevant documents have already been submitted to the World Gymnastics disciplinary commission.”, the association said.
The statement noted that Belarusian acrobats qualified for the finals and ultimately won three medals: one gold and two silver. Adrian Trafimovich and Darya Miniuk claimed the gold medal.
