Vitsyebsk Prosecutor’s Office Opens Six “Extremism” Criminal Cases

Main

The Vitsyebsk Prosecutor’s Office opened six criminal cases related to “extremism” in 2025. Among the Criminal Code articles cited is the organization and holding of unauthorized mass events.

According to the prosecutor’s office, 108 citizens were officially warned last year about the inadmissibility of violating legislation on countering extremism.

Over the year, Vitsyebsk prosecutors filed six applications seeking the designation of information channels as extremist. All of them were granted.

It should be recalled that Belarusian authorities use extremism charges to combat political opponents and dissent in general.
