Forecasters have issued a severe weather warning for Friday, Aug. 7. An orange weather alert has been declared. Temperatures in Belarus are expected to begin falling, but thunderstorms are possible.
“On Aug. 7 (Friday), thunderstorms are expected across many parts of the country. In some areas, thunderstorms may be accompanied by heavy downpours and squally winds with gusts of 15-20 m/s, reaching up to 24 m/s in isolated areas. Hail is also expected during the daytime.
During the day, maximum air temperatures in the country’s southeast will reach +30 to +34C, with some areas seeing up to +35C.
During daylight hours, weather conditions in the country’s southwest are expected to change sharply, with cooler temperatures. Maximum air temperatures will range from +22 to +27C,” the warning said.
It is worth recalling that a red weather alert remains in effect across the country today, as it did yesterday, because of extreme heat. Temperatures may reach as high as 40C.
