The Representation for National Revival of the United Transitional Cabinet has developed four strategic documents dedicated to the Belarusian language, culture, education and information policy. They will be presented on Aug. 7 in Warsaw during the New Belarus Conference.
The documents are the result of several months of research, analysis, consultations with experts and the preparation of practical recommendations. They assess current challenges, outline possible scenarios for future developments, and offer proposals for the democratic forces, civil society and international partners.
“We have become so accustomed to the idea that everything is bad for the Belarusian language in Belarus that we no longer notice just how bad the situation is. But what if the language could disappear within the next few generations? Without our collective efforts, it may be doomed to extinction, and with it, the nation itself. We analyze current trends, consider possible scenarios and offer recommendations on what else can be done. Because the Belarusian language is our shared responsibility,” said Pavel Barkouski, the United Transitional Cabinet’s Representative for National Revival.
The presentation will take place on Aug. 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Warsaw as part of the New Belarus Conference. The event is open to the public, but due to limited seating, advance registration is required.
