Teenager In Voranava Steals 23,000 Euros From Acquaintance And Buys Eight Cars

A 17-year-old teenager from Voranava stole more than 23,000 euros from an acquaintance’s safe and used the money to buy eight cars, the Investigative Committee reported.

The teenager helped his 39-year-old acquaintance with household chores and knew where he kept valuables and left his keys. At the end of March, the teenager took advantage of a moment when the acquaintance was away from home, found the hidden keys, entered the house and opened the safe.

The accused stole more than 23,000 euros from the safe. He used most of the money to buy eight cars. One of them turned out to be faulty, so he decided to burn it.

The homeowner discovered the theft and contacted the police. The suspect was quickly identified. Officers found 1,500 euros and more than 8,000 Belarusian roubles that he had not yet spent.

The accused lives with his family and studies at a college in Hrodna. He had no previous criminal record. A criminal case has been opened on charges of theft on an especially large scale. The accused has been placed in custody.
