Aliaksandr Lukashenka, who arrived in Russia the previous day, met Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Friday, Aug. 28.
According to the Lukashenka press service, the focus was on developing trade, economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and Russia, as well as implementing joint cooperation projects.
Lukashenka discussed these issues in Minsk on Tuesday with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. The meeting with Mishustin was a continuation of talks at the leadership level between the two countries, the statement said.
“I must publicly assure you that everything we have planned is being implemented and will be implemented. We are fulfilling our commitments and even exceeding them,” Lukashenka said to Mishustin. “I think you have no grounds for complaints against Belarus either. I must once again publicly assure you that everything we have planned is being implemented and will be implemented. From minor issues involving fuel — diesel, various types of gasoline and so on — to food. We are fulfilling our commitments and even exceeding them. You can have no doubt about that. And on to serious systemic issues within our Union, within the EAEU.”
Mishustin noted that trade between Belarus and Russia is growing steadily and spoke about plans related to industry, manufacturing, the digital agenda and electronics.
