Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov will serve as an adviser to Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto on defense innovation. Fedorov announced this on social media.

“In this role, I will help Italy develop modern warfare technologies, improve its defense sector and adapt to new global security challenges,” Fedorov said.

During his meeting with Crosetto, he discussed drones, autonomous systems, air defense and the development of the defense tech ecosystem.

However, according to the former minister, his main focus remains his work in Ukraine on projects aimed at strengthening the country’s defense and attracting international resources.

Fedorov stressed that Ukraine’s experience could form the basis of a new defense model for Europe, with an emphasis on combining technology with strong manufacturing capabilities and the ability to rapidly test and scale new solutions.

Mykhailo Fedorov served as Ukraine’s defense minister from January 2026 until July 15, 2026. His departure from the post has been attributed to a conflict with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
