Tax Code Amendments Adopted in First Reading

The House of Representatives has adopted, in the first reading, a bill introducing amendments to the Tax Code.

According to the chamber’s press service, the draft proposes increasing excise rates on fuel and tobacco products, as well as expanding the list of excisable goods. Rates for land tax, real estate tax, environmental tax, gambling tax, transport tax, and the tax on apartment rentals will be indexed.

The amendments also introduce a higher real estate tax for large apartments and houses. A third tax bracket is being added for high-income earners. Owners of certain motorcycle models will face an increased transport tax.

Under the proposed changes, the overall tax burden in 2026 is projected at 25.7% of GDP.
