The Lithuanian State Border Guard Service has clarified the current operation of border checkpoints with Belarus.

The Šalčininkai (Benyakoni) checkpoint remains closed indefinitely.

Traffic through the Medininkai (Kamenny Log) checkpoint is restricted. The following categories of travelers are allowed to cross the border:

  • holders of diplomatic passports or those transporting Lithuanian diplomatic mail,
  • persons traveling to or from the Kaliningrad region in transit via Belarus with a simplified transit document,
  • citizens of Lithuania and EU member states, as well as their family members, traveling to Lithuania,
  • and holders of valid Lithuanian residence permits traveling to Lithuania.

Both checkpoints were suspended on Sunday evening after the launch of balloons from the Belarusian side. The Lithuanian government is expected to decide this week on an indefinite border closure with Belarus.
