The Vileyka District Prosecutor’s Office has discovered an unauthorized children’s camp where more than 30 children were staying under the supervision of three karate instructor-coaches.
The camp was located at one of the rural guesthouses and was not included on the list of educational and recreational or sports and recreational camps. More than 30 children aged 7 to 17 were staying there, while the instructor-coaches “presented their activities as providing sports karate training.”
The prosecutor’s office listed violations committed by the camp organizers, including the absence of a medical worker and a medical services agreement, as well as a coach and a cook who did not have certificates confirming completion of hygiene training and medical examinations.
“Several children were staying on the second floor of a bathhouse, while the others were in cabins that had not been cleaned for a long time, with clothes and hygiene items scattered throughout. Fire extinguishers in the living quarters were inoperable, while refrigerators were connected through extension cords in violation of electrical safety rules,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
The prosecutor’s office also found violations at children’s playgrounds near residential buildings and sent orders to the district executive committee demanding that the camp cease operations and the playgrounds be repaired. The orders were carried out. Two officials were subjected to disciplinary action.
