Three consignments of infected tomatoes were stopped from entering Russia from Belarus.
On Aug. 13 and 14, vehicles carrying tomatoes were stopped in Russia’s Smolensk region near the Belarus-Ukraine border. It was established that the tomatoes had been grown at the Rudakovo agricultural enterprise in the Vitebsk region. The consignments were destined for companies in the Smolensk and Moscow regions, as well as an individual entrepreneur in the Kaliningrad region.
Rosselkhoznadzor employees found that the tomatoes were infected with tomato brown rugose fruit virus. All three consignments, with a combined weight of about 56 tonnes, were returned to the sender.
