The Polish Consulate General in Hrodna has reminded Polish citizens that the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to maintain its highest, Level 4, travel advisory for Belarus and continues to strongly advise against all travel to the country.

The diplomatic mission also reminded citizens of Poland who also hold Belarusian citizenship that, under Belarusian law, they are regarded exclusively as Belarusian citizens. As a result, in the event of a crisis, a Polish consul would not be able to provide them with consular assistance.

The consulate also noted that when leaving Belarus, Belarusian border authorities require people holding dual Polish-Belarusian citizenship to present a Belarusian passport. This requirement also applies to minors.
