Poland Uncovers Another Group Smuggling Cigarettes From Belarus

Polish authorities have carried out another operation against a group involved in smuggling cigarettes from Belarus. The operation took place in the Lublin, Masovian and Silesian voivodeships. Eight Polish citizens were detained, the Border Guard said.

The group operated between 2023 and 2026. It was involved in smuggling cigarettes from Belarus and distributing tobacco products illegally manufactured in Poland. According to investigators, the group sold more than 800,000 packs of cigarettes. The losses to the Polish state treasury are estimated at 28 million zlotys (about $7.5 million).

During searches, officers seized nearly 24,000 packs of cigarettes, €42,000, 156,000 zlotys, and also confiscated a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
