The People’s Embassies of Belarus have turned five. The initiative was launched on Human Rights Day in 2020.
Today, People’s Embassies operate in more than 20 countries. In 2025, the network continued to expand through closer cooperation with Georgia, Moldova, Taiwan, Portugal and Ukraine, as well as through the emergence of new activists in France and Lithuania. In particular, a People’s Consulate is set to open in Nice.
“In 2025, the People’s Embassies of Belarus (PE) continued to substitute for the embassies of the regime and remained an important part of Belarus’s democratic forces and their de facto representations abroad. Representatives of the PE joined delegations of the democratic forces during visits and took part in protocol events. A wide range of projects encompassed not only diplomatic, but also cultural diplomacy,” the initiative said in a report prepared for the anniversary.
