Lithuanian border guards recovered a “snowflake” from the Neris River (known as the Viliya in Belarus) in the middle of summer. That was the shape of a raft used by cigarette smugglers.

According to the State Border Guard Service, the raft carried 2,090 packs of NZ Gold cigarettes from Belarus into Lithuania. The shipment is estimated to be worth €11,400.

An investigation has been launched. It is worth noting that such cigarette rafts are more commonly recovered in winter, when smugglers disguise them as ice floes.

Lithuanian officers previously recovered a similar raft from the Neris. Two months ago, it was carrying 2,250 packs of cigarettes.
