(Updated) A meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded at the White House. The talks were held without journalists present. Zelenskyy left the White House after about an hour, Reuters reported.
The Ukrainian president described the talks as productive. One of the issues discussed was licenses to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
“A good meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office. Thank you for everything we are doing together to protect the lives of Ukrainians and achieve peace. First of all, I expressed my condolences to President Trump over the death of Lindsey Graham. He was a true friend of Ukraine.
We discussed licenses for the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, as well as several other ideas that could help. We also talked about diplomacy — it is important to intensify the diplomatic process. Our teams will coordinate the details of further communication. I am grateful to the United States for its unwavering support,” Zelenskyy said after the meeting.

Head of Zelenskyy’s Office Kyrylo Budanov said the two sides had reached a clear understanding of the need to end the war as quickly as possible.
“We had a substantive discussion on the diplomatic and security steps needed to bring a just peace closer. Together with our American partners, we have a clear understanding of the need to end the war as quickly and fairly as possible. We agreed to intensify the negotiation process at all levels,” Budanov said.
