Education Minister Andrei Ivanets has warned that passing scores for admission to Belarusian universities will increase this year. He made the statement during an interview on STV, according to a report.
According to the minister, the number of students achieving perfect scores has increased this year, while average scores across all subjects have risen by approximately two to three points.
“This year we have more students with perfect scores. This indicates that competition for places at our universities will be very intense. We can see that the average score across all subjects has increased by around two to three points. This also suggests that passing scores will rise,” he said.
At the same time, Ivanets said that more than 3,000 additional state-funded university places have been made available this year.
“The focus has primarily been placed on medical, economic, engineering and agro-industrial specialities. These are all fields of study that are currently in demand in the country’s economy and society,” he added.
