Lukerya and Veranika Mirontseva, who were accused of attempted assistance to extremist activity, have been released from custody, Nasha Niva reports. According to the publication, the court sentenced both women to “home chemistry” — a form of restricted freedom served at home.
The women were released immediately after the verdict was announced. Their detention became known in December 2025. They had been held in Detention Center No. 1 on charges of attempted assistance to extremist activity.
In August 2020, sisters Viktoryia, Anastasiya, and Aliaksandra Mirontseva stood up for citizens who were being beaten by OMON officers. Aliaksandra managed to leave the country, while Viktoryia and Anastasiya were detained in October 2020.
Anastasiya was sentenced to two years in a general-regime penal colony, while Viktoryia received 2.5 years in prison. The sisters were charged under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions grossly violating public order) and Article 364 of the Criminal Code (violence or threat of violence against a law enforcement officer). Viktoryia was also charged under Part 1 of Article 363 of the Criminal Code (resisting a law enforcement officer). In 2022, both sisters were released after fully serving their sentences.
Veranika is the twin sister of previously convicted Viktoryia. She and her retired mother remained in Minsk until their detention at the end of 2025.
