A representative of the BELPOL initiative, Uladzimir Zhyhar, has identified two provocateurs who were present during the protests following the 2006 presidential election. They were identified as Dzmitry Maiorau and Andrei Ustynau, both with criminal records.

“On the anniversary of the events of 2006, I always rewatch Yury Khashchevatski’s film ‘Ploshcha’. This time, I decided to find out who those provocateurs were in 2006. Fortunately, there is a facial recognition system and databases. Nothing surprising — two convicted individuals,” Zhyhar wrote on Facebook.

Maiorau is a resident of Minsk. On March 13, 2006, he was sentenced to two years in prison with a suspended sentence. He was later convicted twice more.

Ustynau was born in the Russian city of Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) and has multiple convictions. In 2008, he himself became a victim of a crime and sustained serious injuries.

“What is notable is that there is no information about his employment after 2019. However, there is a full namesake in the Myrotvorets database listed as a fighter of the Wagner PMC,” Zhyhar wrote.
