The identification of the bodies of two climbers brought down from Kurumdy is scheduled for Aug. 27. This was reported on a website dedicated to the search for two Belarusian climbers and a Lithuanian climber who went missing earlier this month after climbing a peak in Kyrgyzstan.
“A helicopter brought two bodies down to Sary-Tash. From there, they were taken under police escort to a morgue in the city of Osh. Identification is scheduled for Aug. 27. We will not name them before then,” the statement said.
The search for the third member of the expedition is continuing.
Belarusians Maksim Palianski and Mikalai Svirydau, as well as Lithuanian citizen Sergey Rubtsou, climbed Kurumdy Peak in Kyrgyzstan. On Aug. 2, the group reported that it had begun its descent but failed to reach the designated point. A large-scale search operation was launched.
