A Belavia flight diverted to Ankara after a passenger fell ill. The plane was flying from Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to Minsk. It landed in Ankara at 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 24. Unfortunately, the passenger died.
“The crew took all measures to provide assistance. Before landing, flight attendants announced over the public address system that medical professionals were needed. Two qualified doctors responded to the call. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on the passenger.
The captain decided to make an emergency landing in order to promptly hand the passenger over to medical personnel. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, the passenger could not be saved,” the airline said.
After refueling, the plane departed Ankara at 2:50 a.m. on Aug. 25 and landed in Minsk at 7:42 a.m.
“We thank the passengers on this flight for the tact they showed on social media toward the situation and toward the passenger’s family and loved ones.
The airline extends its condolences to the passenger’s relatives and deeply sympathizes with them in their grief,” the company added.
