Growth in Real Household Incomes Slows Slightly in May

Real disposable cash incomes of the Belarusian population rose by 7.9% in January-May compared with the same period last year. The pace of real income growth slowed slightly. It stood at 8% in January-April. By comparison, the figure increased by 9.6% in 2025.

The official socio-economic development forecast for 2026, approved by a decree of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, provides for a 4.8% increase in household incomes.

The structure of cash incomes in January-May 2026 was as follows:

  • wages and salaries — 66.1%;
  • transfers to the population (pensions, benefits, scholarships and other transfers) — 22.5%;
  • income from entrepreneurial and other income-generating activities — 6.7%;
  • property income and other income — 4.7%.

The share of wages and salaries in the income structure increased, while the shares of all other sources declined.

Real disposable cash income is cash income after taxes, fees and contributions, adjusted for the consumer price index for goods and services.
