Uladzimir Kukharau, chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, said that the third line of the Minsk Metro will not be extended to the Zialiony Luh district in the coming years. He made the statement during a meeting with employees of Minskreklama while answering questions from staff, Minsk-Novosti reported.
According to the official, ground transport services in the district will instead be expanded, with feeder routes organised to connect residents to the metro station at Bangalore Square. He said that all necessary utility networks and infrastructure would be built, and that when the city eventually returns to plans for metro construction in Zialiony Luh, only the tunnels would remain to be completed.
A question was also raised during the meeting about flooding in the Frunzenski and Maskouski districts. Kukharau said that extensive work is currently underway to replace drainage pipes with larger-diameter ones. Built 50 to 60 years ago, the existing system was not designed for the city’s current size. Construction of a new collector has already been completed.
